I've only got 2 days of work left before a break for Christmas - which I am looking forward to. A week off will be nice.
In general: The last 3 weeks have been hectic at work - got on top of it as of about 4pm yesterday. So I now only have to cruise through the next 2 days and I'm home free. When we go back it won't be busy. the Construction Industry is shutdown for 2 weeks after we go back. And the bulk of our work is permits for builders wanting to close roads, work beyond normal hours, use cranes/lifts/whatever in the public realm.... So there'll be none of that. It'll just be the normal craziness....
Today
alleycat04 and I did some shopping for Christmas, and it is now done. 1 outstanding issue (my sister) but I know what I need to get her, and I can do it at work.
Tonight was another cooking night. In addition to the puddings that Eliza had already done - we now have rum and raisin truffles and mince pies. The kitchen's power grows with each passing day.
There's the issue of what to do about my father still to sort... He's come up to Melbourne for Christmas (yay...) and his family are all interstate or overseas. So I can't leave him on his own. My sister's working. Eliza can't stand him. I'm on my own.... My god.... I'll see him tomorrow, see if I can convince him to have Christmas out - it'll just be himself and myself.
But that aside all is well. The program is going to be:
Christmas Eve=Tony and Robyn (et al...)
Christmas day = Dad (yay...)
Christmas night = Mum, my sis, yia yia (grandma) and my godmother.
Yay!.
I'm so glad to get this holiday. This is the first actually Christmas break I've had in about 7 years. In the good old days I'd work through it (except Christmas day) in retail. Last year I still worked through it even at council. This year our office is closed for the week. So I'm out of there like a bolt.
