I wouldn't mind so much if it ran to time, so I could avoid it completely. But I still need to watch bits of it when I want to watch the next scheduled program.

Yes, I completely agree.
The number of times I've had to watch the tail end of Big Brother waiting for whatever follows. It is appalingly terrible televission.
