Mar. 20th, 2007 07:01 pmToday a little birdie (A Rosella I think) came to the hub. It flew into a glass window. Poor birdie!. It hit it's head very hard, and scattered some downy feathers around the decking. The birdie then found itself on the decking. It was dazed- I've never seen a bird KOed before. It was literally swaying on its feet. It couldn't hold its head up. So I watched over it.
It was the most bizzare thing I think I've seen. It was as though bit by bit its motor skills returned. It started to raise its head fractionally at first, and then started to blink again. Not as rapidly as normal, but there was movement. It then straightened its neck, and its beak began to quiver. Over time it got more and more vertical. And then it started to move it's feet again.
I looked at me, quivering. I could almost see it exerting itself totally to try and get its wings to move again. Like the rest of its body, the wings quivered at first. As though shaking off sleep.....
After such a long build up, it was so sudden. Up it went, flapped its wings and took off.
About 5 metres into its new flight, it hit the hand-railing that surrounds the decking at my office and it fell once more to the ground. But this time it didn't stay down for any length of time, and I watched it fly off into the distance. It wasn't flying very straight, but it was airborne....
And that was my story for the day.
The motto is: Depth perception is good.

penelope_jane - cut down so it's not boring.
Me:
" I think they should ask Christ Mackie/KO to actively act as 'recruiters' like they were when they got me started in the previous generation."
Penny:
" "Christ" Mackie? Talk about freudian slips!"
Me:
"I PWNED FREUD HEEZ A N00B11111"
(...)
"A kid here for the playgroup just threw up. This is the life....."

And there's a snapshot of my day.

You're a Tyrannosaurus Rex!
You can't stop talking about the "good old days" of the past. While
you remember everything being so much better and more glorious back then, you've
got to realize that times have changed! It's time to move on, time to bring in
the new technology and advancements! Still, there is some charm to your olden
out-dated ways. Children seem to love you, for example, as do some historians and
scientists. And you should really eat something... your bones are starting to
show.

Jan. 5th, 2007 09:56 amThis made me laugh. It brought brightness to an otherwise rather droll day... At least I've got air conditioning (it's 35 degrees celsius in melbourne today).
Seamus (me): I'm taking a super long weekend come Australia day. It's on a friday. I'm taking the monday afterwards off. Because I can.
Penny (
penelope_jane): Because you are Super Seamus, Hero of the Public Service, King of the Docklands, with the awesome powers of RDOs and Annual Leave!!! HUZZAH!!
