This is funny.

Actually it's kind of sickening. But all you can do is laugh.

He said the US Federal Reserve shipped 363 tons of cash, totalling $US12 billion, packed in wooden boxes to Iraq during the Bremer administration from March 2003 to June 2004 but it had 'disappeared'.

What. The. Fuck. "Disappeared" you say, Bremer?

Unbelievable. I am literally lost for words.

I like the thought that there's a possibility (raised by the comittee) some of that cash could be funding the insurgency now... And there was no denial of that from Bremer either.

Interesting fact from TV last night: The Space Shuttle Columbia's first launch was dedicated (by Regan) to the heroic 'freedom fighters' of Afghanistan. AKA the Mujahadeen... who later formed the Taliban...

I love the world today...

Let's send $12 billion to a warzone... but fail to implement at least a pissy little accounting system. I'm sure at least MYOB could have pulled them out of a bit of this mess.

But it's mainly due to corruption. Put 10 people in a room with a lotta cash, how many would take some? Put a few thousand people in a room... with mates... I'd like to think that the Bush administration were working of a precident of this working in the past rather than just coming up with an idea and running with it.

Don't they have Western Union Money Transfer? :)

Unless Bush had $12 Billion in his war chest that he had to spend before the end of the year, otherwise congress wouldn't give it to him next year.

Be fair, though.... $12billion is hardly anything considering (http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200702/s1840931.htm) "United States President George W Bush has asked ... Congress to approve $US700 billion in new military spending - much of it for the Iraq war".

$12 billion? Peanuts I say!

Although one wonders where it will go... any thoughts, Mr. Cheney?

Peanuts in the greater scheme of things, but it represented 1/3 of the 2003s reconstruction budget...

I mean that money was earmarked for Haliburtons!
